Yukon Women in Music

Yukon Women in Music is a volunteer-run organization that meets regularly to organize concerts, workshops and fundraising events, as well as to provide networking opportunities for women in and around the Whitehorse area.

What’s new for our members:

• YWIM’s 4^th Compilation CD:  Jury results will be announced June 15^th. Thanks for all the songs submitted.
• The CD release concert will be held at the Yukon Arts Centre on Saturday November 3rd 2012. Mark it in your calendars! We plan on filming the concert so that performers will be able to use their own footage for youtube if they choose.
• YWIM just submitted a proposal to Arts Fund to do a YWIM Tour to Yukon Communities to celebrate the launch of the 4^th YWIM compilation CD. If we receive funding, we plan to tour in October & November of 2012. All YWIM members are eligible to go on the tour, whether or not they have a song on the CD. We will be looking for Tour Producers to manage different legs of the tour. Six women will be chosen to perform at each concert/tour leg. Tour legs will be 1- 5 days long and performers will receive honoraria and per diems. Some considerations when selecting women to go on various tour legs: among the 6 are there people willing to facilitate workshops in schools? Is there a variety of emerging and professional artists?  Is there some one who can run the PA system? Scheduling availability.
